Amateur at heart!

Satyagraha Unplugged!

June 7, 2011, New Delhi: Messages circulating, social networking getting crowded, surveys, speeches,
fasts and a great hullabaloo all across India – bottom-line - crackdown in the midnight. After being
detained from New Delhi, Yoga Guru Ramdev Baba continues his fast against corruption in Haridwar.
Baba’s step against Government has raised an uproar among people in the nation.

A fierce streak of energy has been noticed amongst the youth in the Satyagraha. The agitation has seen
lot of youngsters revolting and raising their voices. Though, contradictory perspectives are seen as well.
IT employee Sanjay says, “I don’t understand the point behind such a physical humiliation in the middle
of the night, especially, when things were coming to a certain agreement. Baba had been informed
regarding the withdrawal of permission to conduct the Shivir. Still, he continued and further, jumped off
the stage. Such scene wouldn’t have occurred I guess. One cannot blame the Government alone. It is a
two way rivalry where both the parties are at some blame from their ends.”

Vijeta Gautam, a teacher shared, “I wish more efforts were taken towards achieving 24*7 electricity
and water and also, reduction in the petrol hikes. Objective to make English as secondary may not
bring any help as the entire world is going the English way. Though, Baba’s other objectives are worth
appreciation and no less challenging. I wish it brings some goodness to the nation and the people.”

In the process of agitation, approximately ten supporters of Baba were arrested for causing property
damage, rioting and obstructing public servants from their duties. This has added to the fuel and there
might be more repercussions. On the other hand, Anna Hazare is also sitting on a one day hunger strike
on June 8th, 2011. His strike is attempted as a mark of unity against the midnight crackdown against
Baba.

Jyotsna Singh, sales analyst with an IT company says “I am coming across such a fight for the first time
in my life. Both the leaders, Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare have brought a sudden revolution which is
definitely, encouraging youth like us. I have enrolled myself into the volunteering activities initiated by
indiagainstcorruption.org. My responsibilities include making banners, posters and writing brief reports
on the various occasions of protests. We hope, efforts come out with positive results.”

Satyagraha 2011 calls for a difference where it is Government Vs people. With further protests by
both the leaders will tell us how democratic we are. After IPL, it’s another striking match to watch and
support for! Whom do you support?

The Favorite Me

‘’Where mind is without the fear and the head is held high’’- so said Tagore.
Though the further part of the poem relates to world into fragmentation and all and I am not going to talk on that. Now where this fear does comes from and where does it lead to? Big question. In that case, I too would give vague answers. With some, being in dark, driving a vehicle, parental fear and what not. Everyone does fear from something or the other in life, I do too. I am going to be honest with this.
The fear of getting overshadowed overlooked and ignored –
A dream desire: to be noticed in the crowd, the most beautiful girl, the most charming, the most wanted the most cherished and desired by all in the world. A much awaited moment when the mirror would crave to see me and I will crave no less.
A queen at heart when the entire world would be at my feet……….. I may not awaken the world alone, but will surely be an awakened real.

Love unplugged

If love is conditional

Its not me

If love is sentimental

I am not free

If love is swayed by attires

I am very ugly

If love is libido calling

I am better if I am not falling

If love is demanding

I am sorry

I am better If I am single

And no one is calling!!!!!!!

Rescue rangers :: 'The Darzi'

“Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.”Oscar Wilde

I remember once sitting for a chit chat with friends when we were discussing exactly what is meant by Fashion and Fashion designing. Different people, different opinions. Few found it a business while others restricted it to a platform of experimentation. I find Fashion an art wherein you play with colors and cloths together. To be honest, its an extension or modification to the profession of a tailor (Darzi) who is seen in various corners of the lanes. Within fifty rupees, you manage to receive a graceful welcome in weddings and parties worth lacs. Remember the chapters we read on Mughals, their heavy attires took month long time to be created. The tailor was named as tailor and his remuneration was his appreciation with few compliments from the king. Today, the art of tailoring has been defined as Fashion designing involving extensive courses and in-depth studies. Pearl, NIFT and institutions like these offer comprehensive courses which can cost a bomb to you, once you plan to pursue it. No one knew if tailoring would take up such a makeover in the league. Wearing good and looking good is the main aim of people with least worries on expenses.

Ritu Beri, Sabyasaachi Mukherjee are the common names in the daily conversation today. In addition to it, wearing designer wear is very much in thing and thus, market keeps booming with the increase of designers and their collection. But to whatever magnitude we change, our 11th moment conversation with our Darzi remains intact especially when he is 'stitching' our dress material. We put in our creative inputs to him when the usual reply comes 'Madamji, do this neck design, it will suit you'. Attending a wedding or a quite occasion, Darzi remains our savior throughout. Though the rescue remains unacknowledged at all times as post stitching, its a 'designer wear'. Even if the so called designer measured you wrongly, answers are ready with plastic smile, '' my designer you see''. A recent NIFT graduate trying to measure your torso excites you equally to the irritation you develop when the decade old Darzi tries taking your measures. Nothing comes out better other than accepting the talent at any level. Think about the creativity bestowed to your Darzi sitting in small shed before envying his ideation to make you look good.
